Contributing to Africa’s Environmental, Cultural and Artistic Heritage.

The Orkedi Art, Nature & Education.

The Orkedi Art, Nature and Education Foundation (shortened to The Orkedi Foundation) was registered in 2023 with the aim of contributing to Africa’s environmental, cultural, and artistic heritage by using art as a means of fostering a love and awareness of nature and environmental conservation. The Foundation taps into East Africa’s finest professional artists to help educate the next generation through creative classes during the artists residency at the Foundation site and through the use of a permanent Collection of Art owned by the Foundation. The Collection’s focus is on artists working on themes related to nature, environment, forests, climate and wildlife.

Founded by Camille Wekesa, the Orkedi Foundation owns and continues to acquire art by donation or purchase that showcases the best of African art based on nature, iconic and world heritage sites in Africa, African customs, culture and wildlife heritage. The aim will be to distill that passion of the natural world to all those who visit the Collection so that they can see themselves as participants in the safeguarding and growth of the natural world and by doing so contribute to Kenya’s environmental, cultural and artistic heritage by getting involved.

I’m in awe of the distinct perspective & creativity that women bring to the fore in their artwork. Their creations speak to me! Women must feature more inclusively for us to appreciate, holistically, the value of our talents.
